Water-proof Qwerty Cell Phone for a Superhero
filed in News & Stuff on Dec.17, 2008
After learning about the new British concept, all those glistening smartphones seem just child’s toys. Remember, I once said that you cannot have everything. Well, you actually can. It is the iCEphone - many things housed inside one rugged shell. It is aimed at soldiers and doctors but, Lord, I want one too although I am a pacifist and rarely attempt to medicate (dead poison) people. iCEphone is a fully featured 3G qwerty cell phone with a touch-screen, it is almost as good as a laptop computer, its GPS navigation unit is better than the one you have on your car plus it has a games console functionality… in case soldiers get bored.
Software
iCEphone is based on a Windows OS platform but it is another bit of software that makes it unique. It has a walk-through medical software suite installed that can assist doctors and what is more important non-medical staff in performing emergency medical treatment. Even if you have never done First aid course, the phone will tell you how. First time in the history of smartphones and qwerty cell phones a gadget has something similar to a computer mouse. It is a new breakthrough in functionality.
Technically it is not a slider. If you know how the slider qwerty cell phone models are built, you will understand that it is no good for heavy duty use. The phone has three parts connected with strong hinges: the main body, the qwerty keyboard panel and the control/joystick panel.
The military phone will work with any network worldwide - it has both quad band GSM and UMTS networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connection options. A powerful 3.1 Mpix camera will make it desirable for journalists working in dangerous places.
Water, Snow and Ice
iCEphone gives something away in its name - yes, it is water proof, ice and snow proof and you can drop it on the floor and even on the rocks - you cannot destroy that thing!
iCEphone is created in Britain, however, it hasn’t yet made it to the shops. In fact, it is only a concept, but what a concept this is! The company behind this courageous project has calculated that in Great Britain alone, more than a million people would be interested in obtaining an iCEphone. The possible markets are police, oilers, back-packers, military contingent… and people who drop their phones from time to time LOL! One million of potential customers. And that’s only in the good old Britain.
Who What When?
So what’s the problem? There’s no problem. Allegedly, this phone will become available to professionals some time around Q2 2009. Soon after that it would be possible that the phone actually comes on sale. Visit the Medical Phone for more info.
