To the aggressive manner employed by Google at the recent Google G1 Dream cell phone presentation, Nokia has replied in a carefree style saying that they are not worried. Nokia’s big boss Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said that Nokia, owning Symbian OS, has a privilege. Symbian runs at least 200,000 cell phones world-wide and it is an open source platform. As is in fact Android - the platform used by G1 Dream phone.

It is expected that the both communities (Symbian coders and Android coders) will enter into a big fight that should last for years.

Can Nokia really be so sure about its strength and not worry? I am afraid they cannot. Although we don’t have much information about Android, we know that Nokia has somewhat missed the fast train of mobile internet. Now a cell phone has to be more than just a phone, Nokia has realized that. Only, isn’t it too late? Google Android is a perfect platform to transport all the things we enjoy on our PC to a hand-held device.

Nokia is strong in Europe but it is far from being the favourite of USA. America is the best market for cell phone makers because people tend to change their phones more often. Where will Nokia stand in this fight?
