Motorola Q9 qwerty cell phone is one of the most popular smartphones of the world. Its main market is USA and somehow it fails to impress Europe. Don’t know why. There is no particular reason. Q9 has two editions “c” is meant for the local market, while “h” is the most desirable Q9 and available to use anywhere with a GSM coverage.
Memory and OS
This qwerty cell phone is yet another successful example of a smartphone using Windows Mobile 6 operational system.
Just like any other non-iPhone gadget, this qwerty cell phone has only 128 Mb of memory. You can upgrade to 32 Gb using MiniSD cards, but what an annoying thing it is. Why, tell me why cannot the smartphone makers supply their phones with at least basic 2 Gb memory? 32 Gb is really good and on that parameter Motorola Q9 really stands out because some qwerty cell phone models can support only up to 2 or 4 Gb MicroSD cards. MiniSD, used by Motorola, are different - they give you more memory capacity. 32 is enough to store all your MP3 music collection.
Multimedia and Socializing
Speaking about MP3 music, Motorola Q9, being a Windows Mobile phone, is equipped with Windows Media Player, which makes it an enviable MP3 player. The large and bright screen allows for an enjoyable video playback experience. With earpieces or without, music quality will be crisp. It has two in-built speakers, which makes it a very loud gadget.
Motorola Q9 comes with Documents To Go office bundle that allows you not only view and edit a word document but also create one. After you have created it, you can send it away, using one of your 8 e-mail accounts. Yeah, that’s eight accounts. When it comes to synchronising your e-mails and contacts, Motorola Q9 supports only Microsoft Outlook. If you are using other mail client on your PC… well, just change the mail client.
1.3 Mpix digital camera is a basic one. It is not as good as 2 Mpix cameras, obviously. However, for taking day-to day pictures and even shooting videos, it is just what is needed. Motorola Q9 is ideal for property agents as it gives them hands-free of a digital camera. No need to carry it with you any more. An LED flash near the camera will allow you to take pictures in limited light environments. Fancy a Motorola Q9 with a 2 Mpix camera? Choose the World edition Q9h - it is a more advanced phone.
In-built GPS navigations. It means you can use Google Maps to avoid losing your way.
Battery
Motorola cell phone battery is a good one. It gives you 4.5 hours talk-time and 212 hours standby. For even more time, go with a heavy duty Motorola cell phone battery, but then, your phone won’t be slim any more. The heavy duty battery is kind of fatty, it comes with an extra back-cover and is really heavy. Note that Motorola Q9h World edition has an even longer cell phone battery life - 5.5 talk time and 456 hours stand-by (720 standby hours on a heavy duty battery, blimey, that’s 30 days… in case you get lost in the woods).
Connectivity
Motorola Q9 is not a GSM mobile phone. It is a CDMAone or CDMA 1. It uses a multiple access scheme based on code division multiple access. What does it mean for you? Well, there is a probability that you cannot use Motorola Q9 in your country. Only 13% of mobile phone users worldwide are on CDMA. Are there any ways around that then? Yes, in fact there is a Motorola Q9h edition, which is marketed as a World-phone. If you anticipate travelling or live outside USA, New Zealand and China, you will want to buy the World edition. It is a normal quad-band GSM phone and works with any network.
Motorola Q9 qwerty cell phone comes with BlueTooth and simple USB cable. These are just two ways how to transfer files and synchronize with a PC or to use a hands-free kit in a car.
Cons?
Are there any? Well, for the standard edition, it is the CDMA connectivity standard (not the usual GSM) and 1.3 Mpix camera. Choose Motorola Q9 h to eliminate these cons.
Some say that Q9 is a bit too wide to fit in a palm. But then, it depends on the size of your palm and on your taste.
Bottomline
Feels almost like a super-phone. I’m not saying it about the standard edition. It is Motorola Q9 h qwerty cell phone that really rocks. It has everything you need!
