Motorola Headhunts Android OS Developers

By admin|News & Stuff|Be the first to comment!

Despite of Google G1 HTC cell phone being a monopoly of T-mobile, manufacturers are seeing the open source Android OS as an important player in the future world of mobile phones.

Motorola, the struggling American manufacturer, is combining the Android developer dream team. 50 employers currently experimenting with Android will soon welcome new colleagues as Motorola enters a big headhunt operation.

According to TechCrunch there were Nokia people attending the recent Android developer conference. Nokia currently owns the Symbian OS but it is not impossible that some time in the future Nokia would develop a cell phone running on Android open source platform.

Although Google G1 HTC is currently the only cell phone to run Android, its idea seems very appealing to other cell phone manufacturers because allegedly there is nothing better than Android to handle web based applications; its programming language is simple enough and the manufacturers will save lots of money on licensing fees as Android is open source.
