HTC Qwerty Cell Phone

HTC Qwerty Cell Phone

First, when you see HTC 620 you usually do like it because of its retro-gadgetry design, however, then you start to worry and ask yourself: “Hey, what is HTC?” I’ll tell you what it is. It is one of the biggest and fastest-growing technology companies in Taiwan. It was founded in 1997 and just in 10 years time its global sales has reached $3.5 billion! HTC 620 qwerty cell phone is one of the company’s most successful products. It is a Windows based mobile device that incorporates a video player, MP3 player, full web-browsing capabilities, e-mail, organizer, office document processor and many many more!

You probably already see that I love this device :D Let me tell you more about it. It is very slim and beautiful, has a chromed line going around the perimeter and a real polished steel plate on the front. It is actually much smaller and lighter than it looks and fits in the palm perfectly. The dimensions are: 111.5 mm (L) X 62.5 mm (W) X 12.8 mm (T) Hey, that’s thinner than a BlackBerry Curve (15.5mm).

Memory and OS

One of the major pros for me is that this qwerty cell phone runs Windows Mobile® 6.0! It is a perfect OS for mobiles and makes your life much easier when it comes to connecting the device to a PC. It is very convenient when your PC and cell phone speak in the same language - it allows for fast file exchange, MP3 and video upload, contacts and tasks synchronizing and more.

HTC 620 qwerty cell phone has 128 MB of inbuilt memory and you can extend it to additional 2 GB memory via a simple MicroSD card - just about any card. I’ve tried it with different MicroSD brands. RAM DDR memory of 64 MB means that this smartphone will be a joyride when it comes to surfing the web or opening Office Documents - it is just very fast.

Multimedia and MP3 Player - have fun

The large 2.4-inch screen with 320 X 240 resolution and 65,536 colors, makes it a great small video-player. It will recognize and play-back H.263, MPEG4, WMV, Motion JPEG (AVI) files. It is also a good MP3 player, the sound is good quality and even better than some of stand-alone MP3 players. Built in speaker allows to air the MP3 music for your friends or to the delight of your neightbours. And all multimedia functionality is delivered via a familiar Windows Media Player interface.

How about some serious business use? No problem at all: check your e-mail, browse the web, open, edit and save PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. The organizer will remind you of all the important daily tasks. The integrated qwerty keyboard with tactile and precise keys allows you to write really fast. In fact, once you have gotten used to it, your typing speeds should be similar to that on a real computer keyboard.

This qwerty cell phone has an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera with 1280 x 1024 maximum image resolution for both taking photos and video. What type of pictures? Let me be honest, your Olympus digital camera will probably provide better images, however, 1280 pixel images - it is very, very good for a small gadget like HTC. You can do portraits and in-door pictures if you provide enough lighting. You can take out-door pictures of objects that are within 20cm to 2 meters distance from camera. Don’t take pictures in direct sunlight, also long-distance shots may be a bit blurry. It is very difficult to take pictures of white objects. Take your time and just experiment. HTC can do magic for you.

Connectivity

Quad-band phone supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE and even more advanced connectivity protocols like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It also connects to any PC via a USB cable. Wi-Fi is easy to use and allows you to surf the internet from a cafe, a beach, or any other place that is situated near to a Wi-Fi point. Keep in mind that once connected, HTC qwerty cell phone will start consuming loads of energy. That’s why you always should disable Wi-Fi when you’re finished.

Cons?

Is there anything I don’t like about HTC 620? It wouldn’t be an honest cell phone review if I told you only about good points. In fact, this qwerty cell phone has a weak battery. It will last for at least three days if you don’t use the Internet, but once you start connecting, expect to re-charge soon. However, once you have plugged your charger, it will re-charge very quickly. The problem can be solved if your HTC 620 package includes an extra heavy-duty battery. Mine did. It is a larger battery and comes with its own back cover.

Also, I don’t like the HTC JOGGR™ - it is a touch-sensitive metal strip on the right side of the cell phone. It allows you to quickly browse the web and word documents by scrolling. I just cannot get it right and it always has his own mind, so I just turned the JOGGR™ off and use the nice tactile 4-way control button.

It doesn’t have a standard ear-phone input. Once your HTC ear-phones are gone, they’re gone and you can replace them only with another original pair of ear-phones.

Bottomline

Recommended if you want to obtain an easy-to use every-day Windows based qwerty cell phone.
