Are You being Google-d? The Google G1 Phone Craze is Starting to Overwhelm People
One of the strangest marketing moves has hit America. It was announced on October 22 that the first qwerty cell phone running an Android platform would be sold by T-mobile for $179.99 on a two-years contract. Yesterday the same phone with the same contract appeared in selected Wal-Mart stores only $31.11 cheaper – that is $148.88! Is this some kind of a Halloween joke?
Analysts reckon that T-mobile is aiming at rich customer while Wal-Mart would cover suburbs of large metro areas. So, what do rich people think about the fact they have to pay more? They must be over the moon. Anyhow, this is a very strange move – maybe American people are not so keen on new qwerty cell phones as we expected, hence the price cut.
Meanwhile, Android makes other cell phone manufacturers go bonkers. Motorola is sacking staff with one hand while brandishing the Android flag with other hand. The volume of cell phones Motorola sold has dropped by 21p from thr first into second fiscalquarter. So has plunged the share price too. Not good. Thats why people making budget Motorola phones will have to go. More staff is needed for Motorolas new Android team. They will be busy developing top-tier Android mobile devices, including some new expensive qwerty cell phones.
Do you know anyone else who has gone Android-mad?
