Giga-Byte Qwerty Phone for Advanced Security
filed in News & Stuff on Mar.25, 2009
How to create a successful qwerty phone from scratch? Take the design from BlackBerry, take a keypad layout from Nokia, stick in a touch-screen and call it GSmart! That’s what the Taiwan based computer hardware manufacturer Giga-Byte did. The company is quite old. It was started back in 1986 as a motherboard manufacturer. However, it started expanding and now makes qwerty phone models that are very popular in China, Taiwan and some Eastern European countries. It is also available in the UK from more than 30 outlets - mainly online.
Giga-Byte GSmart qwerty phone is built on a Qualcomm MSM7200A processor, which works at 528 Mhz. It has a fully functional Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and supports geotracking via a GPS module. A Pro edition is on its way - GSmart Pro will be unique - a phone with fingerprints recognition. It will make the phone unusable for thieves. That’s what we call advanced security!
GSmart has a double functionality - it has a nice big 2.4 inch touch-screen and a very convenient qwerty keyboard with large-size keys.
The phone is running a Windows Mobile 6.5 OS and works with quad-band GSM/EDGE networks as well as with 2100 Mhz UMTS networks. This double-networking makes it an enviable world-phone. Let’s see how long will it take for this nice qwerty cell phone to hit America.
