E-Ten Glofiish - Little Known but Promising Qwerty Phone

Who is E-Ten? What is it? It is an electronics company operating from Taiwan, making gadgets, computers and lately also qwerty phones. I’m not sure yet if we have to be afraid of a new name. Probably we don’t. After all, nobody in Europe knows what is Pantech. Does it make Pantech any less important? I don’t know when Pantech is coming to Europe (I am waiting impatiently) but I do know that E-TEN is planning a new European expansion and of course it has the U.S. market in scope, too. Meanwhile Glofiish is well known and favored in Russia, has debuted in Netherlands and many smartphone models are available in Britain.

E-TEN was founded in 1985 and has worked closely with Microsoft since. It introduced the first Chinese language input system for the good old DOS computers. No wonder that after E-TEN started producing cell phones recently, they went for Microsoft Mobile OS.

Glofiish is an elaborate trademark derived from the techy GloFish - a type of genetically modified fluorescent goldfish. Oh, my, it is a genetically modified animal! Now Glofiish (noticed the extra i) is not genetically modified but it is totally sophisticated and hi-tech. Besides, it looks good and it has fluorescent buttons.

Glofiish M700 is the first qwerty cell phone by the Taiwanese company, it is running Microsoft Windows as his other smartphone cousins made by E-TEN. It is a quad-band GSM phone with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and EDGE. Glofiish M700 has an in-built GPS navigation. It has full multimedia package, works with e-mails and documents and the best of all - it is a slider, revealing a full qwerty keyboard. But wait, there’s another one - Glofiish M800, it debuted in February 2008 and is packed with more features yet it looks a bit more businessy and less flashy.

Well, these Glofiish is not ground-breaking. It is just a very stylish qwerty phone with all the necessary features on board. It is for you if you like the way Asian design has evolved. I can imagine a Manga character walking with Glofiish. A nice phone, let’s wait until it comes to the Western world.
