People from Asia cannot wait until Android OS powered cell phones will become available in their region. After Google G1 phone release in USA was announced, everyone is asking: when’s it our turn. One of the biggest cell phone operators in Asia - China Mobile - hsd an answer to these questions.

China Mobile is already developing a phone based on Android. It is possible that following the Google experience, China Mobile is developing its new supergadget in collaboration with HTC. The launch of the new mobile phone was planned to commence by the end of this year but now it seems, the debut will take place in mid 2009.

Both companies - China Mobile and HTC - are members of the Open Handset Alliance, a group of 30 companies who have joined their forces to cook up some innovative ideas and to kick-start the cell phone industry into a new dimension. Open Handset Alliance, the most famous member being Google, has developed the Android open source platform. It is free to use and modify.
